CEREC CAD/CAM Dentistry

CEREC® is a method used by thousands of dentists worldwide since 1987 not only to replace worn or damaged fillings, but also to restore any tooth that is decayed, weakened, broken, etc. to its natural strength and beauty.  Better yet, it’s done with all-ceramic materials that are tooth-colored in a single appointment!

The CEREC® Acquisition Unit is mobile and houses a medical grade computer and the CEREC® scanner. Your dentist uses the scanner to take a digital image of your prepared tooth.  This means no impression tray and no goop for you to gag on. The computer and CEREC® 3-D software converts the digital picture to a three-dimensional virtual model of your prepped tooth. Your dentist then designs your restoration right on screen using the software while you wait (and watch!). The data from the Acquisition Unit is sent to the milling unit and used to carve the block of porcelain into the indicated shape of the restoration.  After the milling is finished, your dentist polishes the finished filling or crown and bonds it into place.

Digital X-Ray

Digital x-rays reduce the amount of radiation needed as compared to film x-rays.  The improved diagnostic capability of digital x-rays and the ability to view the x-rays on a computer screen allow the patient to better understand and follow treatment.  Digital x-rays are instant, there is no longer a need to develop the film.  Digital x-rays save time and increase patient care.  It’s also a very green technology.  By eliminating film, developer and chemical waste it is better for you and the environment!

Soft Tissue Lasers

Soft tissue lasers are used for periodontal (gum) surgeries. These lasers are more efficient, cause less discomfort, promote a faster healing time, and decreased risk of infection, providing a better outcome.

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Using Electronic Medical Records our practice is able to quickly and accurately access patient information in order to provide the utmost in patient care.  This helps to ensure patient confidentiality as well as reduce the need for paper.  Using a digital format allows for quick access to your information when needed for insurance records yet provides a secure filing system.

Digital Intraoral Cameras

An intra-oral camera combines the latest video technologies with dental care. Both the patient and dentist can see detailed images of the teeth and mouth in real time.  With an intraoral camera, you are able to better understand what is happening in your mouth and review the status of your oral health.

Electronic Apex Locator

This device is used to obtain the proper length of the root canal, from which the doctor can determine the position of the file relative to the apex of the root. This can help ensure that the canal is completely free of debris, reducing potential future complications.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer affects thousands of Americans yearly. We use the latest technology to detect changes in oral tissue consistencies and/or lesions. A specialized light is shined into the mouth to detect unhealthy tissue. Healthy tissue looks lighter under the light while spots of bad tissue appear dark. With early detection, cancer may be caught before it has time to spread, potentially saving lives.

Kavo Ultra Quiet Electric Handpieces

These handpieces provide less vibration and noise than traditional dental drills. Not only are they quieter, but also more efficient in tooth preparation making dental procedures shorter and more manageable.

Piezo Electric Handpieces

Are used for periodontal (gum) and osseous (bone) surgery. These handpieces are gently and meticulously used to remove harmful bacteria without requiring invasive measures.

Digital Flat Screen Monitors

These monitors are found next to every patient chair. Patients can watch a movie or TV show. Patients can also view their dental radiographs when speaking to the doctor about the findings for a better understanding of their oral health. Patients can bring their own headphones to enjoy music and programs during their visit.
